As I start thinking about future goals and plans, I thought about what I need to do to be successful. As I want to get into real estate, I am focused on getting my real estate license which allows me to sell houses. I often read different real estate books to learn about everyone’s perspectives and how they were successful in the business. There was a common theme through them all. Hard work, dedication, and relationships are the keys to success in the real estate world. I want to stick around the East Lansing area for a few years before moving home where my family will build our own house. In the time, I want to learn the differences of real estate from a city like East Lansing, to a small town like Versailles, Ohio. I hope to start my own real estate business by the time I am at home and create my own team to lead. I decided on these goals because of my passion I have about real estate. It is about being on a team and working for each other, just like how playing college basketball was for me. I decided these specific goals and techniques all throughout this essay based on my learning while going to college. There is still so much more to learn as I am only 23 but am excited to have a start to my future. There is so much that goes into a dream, and it takes a lot of work to make them come true. There is so much to learn and situations to go through as I fulfill my dream of becoming a real estate agent.

            The first specific topic or area I plan to learn about is leadership in education. The reason I chose leadership is because as a real estate agent, I have to lead my group to success. As I said above, it is like being on a team, so we can only go as far as the leader takes us. Good leaders have their team follow them which is something I will have to work at. Some of the qualities of leadership includes motivating, holding accountable, etc. When there is no leadership within an organization, then it is probably falling apart.             The second topic I would choose would be to integrate technology into finance because of how important it is to understand. As a real estate agent, there are a lot of numbers and percent’s we have to remember (mortgage rates, prime interest rates, etc.) and by understanding finance could help. Technology can help make things a lot easier, like getting familiar with Microsoft excel can help.             The third topic I want to focus on is building relationships with having the communication skills to do so. This can be called marketing and it is important because my clients have to build a trust in myself and my team to sell their house. Relationships take us a long way and can make the difference in real estate. Having the right techniques and approaches to family can build a reputation, while doing something wrong can break it in just a second. I find this topic the most important because I love to build friendships with people and meet new people. The more work I put into people and knowing them, the more work they will trust me with. Marketing skills are so important in this industry because I need to let the customers know that I am better than the other competitors and will be working hard for them to get their needs.             Overall my goal is to be known as the person to go to when it comes to real estate around the area. Based on the qualities I talked about throughout the paper, I should be able to be placed in that category. Success doesn’t happen overnight, so building relationships and all takes time. I am excited to learn more about real estate and finally try it out this coming summer. Until then, I will be reading books and learning as much as I can that way I am prepared when the time comes.
